About CountCamp
I’m Benjamin Telkamp — a statistics teacher and data scientist, working under the name WISI (Wiskunde & Statistiek Inzichtelijk, Mathematics & Statistics Made Clear). Just someone who teaches statistics and maths, and who likes nothing better than small studies of people, animals and the mind. What I really want is to study the truth — though I don’t yet know how. In the meantime, I share here what I have worked out.
What CountCamp is
CountCamp is where I give away what I have managed to make clear about statistics. You will find exercise books here in SPSS, R and JASP, free for anyone who wants to work with them — whether you are studying, need statistics for your work, or are curious about it. They began as material for students at Leiden University, Hogeschool Leiden (Leiden University of Applied Sciences) and Erasmus University Rotterdam, among others, and for my own tutoring. Alongside them, a book in progress, De regressieve ruggengraat (The Regressive Backbone), with the tried-and-tested older Handleiding Statistiek met JASP next to it. And an archive of earlier editions, for anyone who still needs them. All of this is in Dutch for now; the first four chapters of the book and the R exercise book are on their way in English.
The thread through all of it is always the same: first the nerves out, then the subject in — nobody takes anything in while they’re afraid of it. Insight over tricks. And why free? Because clarity is a form of love, and love is something you give away. For you, it simply stays free; I ask only one thing, of degree programmes that want to use the material in their courses: get in touch first. If you want more than a book — someone who sits down beside you — you can hire my time; have a look at Services.
