Exercise books
Statistics exercise books in R, JASP and SPSS, made for students at several universities — and for one-to-one help. Step by step, with animals that behave badly and statistics that slowly becomes clear.
They are being translated one at a time. What is in English comes first; everything under In Dutch is in Dutch.
In English
The R exercise book planned
The exercise book that goes with The Regressive Backbone, chapter by chapter, in R. Not started yet; it gets a link here as soon as its first chapter is up.
Psychometrics Practice Book on its way
For a second-year course in psychology at Leiden University, in R. The first topic is translated and still has to go online; it gets a link here when it does.
Multivariate Data Analysis planned
For a course in psychology at Leiden University, in R. Not started yet; it gets a link here as soon as its first topic is up.
In Dutch
All of these are in Dutch. The Dutch shelf says more about each one.
The R exercise book (in Dutch) → R
The book’s own exercise book in R: the same topics in the same order, and you run the code yourself, the shuffling simulations included.
The JASP exercise book (in Dutch) → JASP
The same material in JASP: click paths instead of code, with the shuffling toys in your browser.
The SPSS exercise book (in Dutch) → SPSS
The same material in SPSS, through the Analyze menus.
The JASP handbook (in Dutch) → JASP
Handleiding Statistiek met JASP, the handbook that was there before the book, in which the techniques are tried out on the same small troop of monkeys. It belongs to no single course, so you can use it alongside any.
For mental-health nurse specialists (in Dutch) → JASP
Made for nurse specialists in training. Here you don’t run an analysis yourself: you read someone else’s, and judge whether you believe it.
Psychometrics (in Dutch) → R
A second-year course in psychology at Leiden University: working R code with its output, next to the course’s own R practicals.
Multivariate Data Analysis (in Dutch) → R
Also for psychology at Leiden: from multiple regression to mediation, with working R code and its output, next to the course’s own exercise book.
Research Practicum 1 (in Dutch) → SPSS
A first-year course in education and child studies at Leiden University: working by hand and theory first, with SPSS as a check.
